The Windows Store keeps growing, so a new record has been reached today

Developers keep sending apps to the Windows Store, so today Windows 8.1 has reached another important milestone. Users can now choose from no less than 150,000 Metro apps, most of them available on both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

While the fact that more apps are being submitted to the store is clearly good news for Microsoft, the software giant still needs to pay much more attention to the app quality, as many of the times offered to users are clones or spam apps that do nothing more than to attempt to steal people’s money.

On the good side, more high-quality apps are arriving in the store, which is pretty important for all those who are at least giving a chance to the Modern UI.

On the other hand, Mozilla has recently announced its decision to stop work on a Metro port of Firefox, citing the lack of excitement for the Modern UI as the main reason. Mozilla said that it was better to focus on more important projects, such as the desktop browser, than to grant resources for a build that would be installed by a small share of users.

Yet, some people still have faith in Windows 8 Metro, so VideoLAN recently launched VLC for Microsoft’s modern platform, finally making one of the most-awaited media players available for adopters of the new operating system launched in October 2013.
