As I reported to you not a long time ago, overclocking community HWBOT has decided to ban Windows 8 after discovering that the OS has a glitch in the real-time clock (RTC) system, so it provides inaccurate reports.

Futuremark, the company behind the popular 3DMark app, claims that Windows 8 users can continue to run its app without any concern if they wish to test the performance of their computers.

“We are, however, investigating the Windows 8 RTC issue so that we can protect the integrity of our 3DMark Hall of Fame. For the good of our enthusiast OC community we will be looking into technical solutions to detect if the exploit has been use,” it said in a short note.

Futuremark explains that those who create a false score with the aforementioned glitch have “no practical benefit,” so everyone should continue using benchmark solutions on Windows 8 just like before.
