Microsoft might be launching a new Start menu in Windows 8.1 sometime this year, but third-party apps that can bring such a feature in modern Windows continue to experience a pretty terrific success these days.

8StartButton is one of the apps that received thousands of downloads since Microsoft launched Windows 8, the first OS version without a Start menu, so the developing team behind the project tried to release new updates as frequent as possible.

Version 2.6.5 is now available for download and although no release notes have been provided, it does come with full support for Windows 8.1 Update, the latest version of Microsoft's OS that was launched in early April.

As far as Microsoft's Start menu is concerned, the company has already confirmed that it's coming in a second Windows 8.1 Update and according to people close to the matter, the debut of this new pack of improvements is very likely to take place sometime in August or September. The new Start menu mixes traditional and modern elements, so you get a familiar layout with live tiles and power controls.

Overall, this update should still come in handy to those looking for a replacement until Microsoft's Start menu arrives, so download 8StartButton 2.6.5 right now if you need to make Windows look more familiar.
