Just like it happens every time when a new Windows version comes out, Microsoft is not at all alone in the struggle to make the new operating system successful, as several vendors across the world step in and give Redmond a helping hand.

This time, both Acer and Asus are reportedly prepared to bet big on Windows 8.1, as both are planning to launch tablets running the operating system later this year.

Forbes is reporting that the two Taiwanese manufacturers are actually trying to make the most of the growing interest in Windows 8.1, as the OS update brings back not only the Start button, but also several key optimizations for Windows users.

“Acer and Asus are always first to get new OS’s from Windows, so (Windows 8.1) would be following their previous model. In the consumer market it’s important to be the first,” Sean Yang, an assistant vice-president with Taipei-based market research firm TrendForce, was quoted as saying by Forbes.

Neither Acer nor Asus confirmed Windows 8.1 plans until now, but more information would most likely emerge soon as we get closer to the public debut of the operating system.
