Today the whole IT world is celebrating Patch Tuesday, and since Adobe matched its security patch rollout with Microsoft’s, the company is also releasing fixes for its software during the same day.

As a result, Adobe’s applications got patched today as well, so in case you’re running any application developed by this company, you might want to check for updates because chances are that some security fixes are waiting for your approval to install.

Adobe Flash Player is one of the apps that got patched today, and although there are no release notes available right now, because Adobe has only now posted this fresh build number on its FTP servers, it’s pretty clear that it includes fixes aimed at security bugs found in the app.

Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.257 is, therefore, an essential download for all those running the app on their computers, and if you don’t do it right now, you’ll be prompted to install the new version in the coming days every time you start your computer.

In the meantime, Microsoft is also expected to release its very own batch of updates for products such as Windows and Internet Explorer, but Redmond’s rollout should include much more critical updates for users worldwide.

For instance, the company might patch a critical flaw in Windows 8.1 that was found and revealed by Google and which could be used by attackers to gain administrator privileges on any system running this OS version.
