It's pretty hard to pick the right codec pack for your needs these days given the fact that there are so many choices out there, but there's no doubt that Advanced Codecs for Windows 7 and 8 is one of the leading solutions offered to Windows users.

And thanks to an update released today, the experience offered to consumers should be slightly improved, as version 4.6.2 final brings an update from the built-in components, most likely supposed to fix bugs and address performance issues.

In this new version, Gabest filters have been updated to build number 4861, while another pack of improvements rolled out a couple of days ago also revised LAVfilters, xyVSFilter, and Icaros.

As you could easily figure out by simply reading its name, this codec pack works on both Windows 7 and Windows 8, no matter if they're in 32- or 64-bit versions. At the same time, Windows 8.1 Update compatibility is also being offered, even though the developing team behind the project hasn't specifically focused on making the codec pack work on this new OS release.

Overall, this is an update that might come in handy to many users out there, so download Advanced Codecs for Windows 7 and 8 4.6.2 Final for an improved multimedia playback experience.
