AVAST Software is one of the first companies that rushed to optimize its security products for the newly-launched Windows 8.1, so adopters of Microsoft’s latest operating system can now protect their computers with these free apps as well.

An update released today comes to bring not only several fixes, but also enhanced compatibility with Windows 8.1, addressing a number of issues that have been reported on this new OS version.

Build number 9.0.2007, available for Avast! Free Antivirus, Avast! Internet Security, and Avast! Pro Antivirus fixes an issue with non-refreshing Metro apps in Windows 8.1, and problems with WinDVD and SQL connectors.

At the same time, it packs GUI and firewall fixes, as well as patches for glitches affecting connection from Java applets and Security Center registration.
