Bill Gates is currently the world’s second richest man, with a net worth of $67.7 billion (€52.4 billion), but he could soon pass Carlos Slim and thus take over the leading position.

According to a report published by Bloomberg, Slim’s stock values are overvalued, so once they align with the industry averages, he could lose the top spot to Bill Gates.

Slim currently has a net worth of $69.1 billion (€53.5 billion) and owns companies in banking, mining and construction fields. It appears that some of his holdings, including his gold mining and construction companies, are extremely expensive, so in case they drop down to the average level, the $1.5 billion (€1.1 billion) ahead of Gates might not be enough to secure the leading chair.

Bill Gates, on the other hand, continues to increase his net worth, so Microsoft’s co-founder could very well become the richest person in the world as soon as next year.
