The Bill and Melinda Foundation is one of the charities supporting this weekend’s DonorsChoose.org’s donating program for schools across the United States, announcing a budget of $1 million (€730,000) to match donations made by other people.

Bill Gates wrote on his blog that for every project his foundation would match the donation to provide full funding and help schools that need more money for supplies and computers.

“To make it easy for everyone to support teachers via DonorsChoose.org, our foundation will meet donors halfway. From August 22 through August 24, nearly every project on the site will be half off. For example, if a $500 project gets $250 in donations in that time, we will match that with another $250 and fully fund the project. (We will match up to a total of $1 million),” Gates wrote.

The donation program kicks off on August 22 and runs through August 24. To search for participating projects, just use the search box on the official DonorsChoose.org website to look for schools in your area.

Of course, you can donate directly to your school or project or support any other program that you might find interesting, but no matter which one you choose, at least make sure that you support this campaign because, as Gates says, lacking basic things such as textbooks and art supplies shouldn’t be a concern in modern society.
