Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is yet another security product that can work on Microsoft’s new Windows 8.1, as a brand new version released this morning brings full support for this OS build, as well as a bunch of other improvements.

According to the official release notes, Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition 1.0.20.1083 offers compatibility with Outpost Firewall Pro 8.1, while also fixing refresh time issues in ThreatControl and “Access denied” errors displayed for read-lone items when trying to delete all quarantined files.

Last but not least, the update makes the app exclude false positives after quarantine auto-scan and keep blocking infected mail archives after the same process.

In addition to Windows 8.1, the free anti-virus also works on a number of other Windows versions, including XP, Vista, 7, and 8.
