The latest release for Calibre brings to the table a new tool that allows you to edit or create a TOC (table of contents) in an easy fashion for EPUB or AZW3 (Kindle) documents.

“Edit ToC” option can also help you rearrange entries in an existing ToC and even modify the location they point to by picking a new one. It is not available in the main toolbar but you can add it from the “Preferences” panel, under “Toolbar.”

The developer announces that, because this is a new tool that is based on fresh code, bugs are likely to pop up.

Also new in Calibre 0.9.23 is the availability of the destination library in the copy dialog upon copying a book. The full notes for this revision are available on this page.
