The latest revision for Calibre brings to the table a few improvements, some of them touching on the news download system and the application’s support for DOCX conversion.

In the case of news download component, the developer included a framework for scraping websites with rich JavaScript using a full WebKit browser. The modification can be tested on time.com.

As far as DOCX conversions is concerned, the developer added support for theme fonts and a markup analyzer that identifies and removes redundant markup generated by Microsoft Word. As a result, the HTML should be much cleaner and the developer informs that reductions in markup size should be as much as 50%.

Also new is an option to stop a search in progress; this is achieved by making the “search” button multifunctional – it turns to “stop” during the search process.

Starting this release, there is the possibility to show the profile screen size in the conversion settings when picking the input/output preset.

This release includes repairs as well, some of them relating to the conversion from DOCX files. You can check all the fixes on this page.
