The Windows XP retirement struggle continues for Microsoft, with statistics showing that in some countries, the company’s efforts are barely noticeable in terms of market share.

China, for example, the land where old applications are still ruling the software world, Windows XP remains the top operating system with a market share of 50.46 percent in January 2014, according to figures provided by StatCounter.

And no, Windows 8 isn’t the second operating system in the list, as Windows 7 is still a popular choice with 42.44 percent of the users in the country running it right now.

While these two operating systems are clearly dominating the market, Windows 8 comes way behind with only 3.01 percent, followed by Mac OS X and Windows 8.1.

If you’ve been leaving under a rock until now, Windows XP support will come to an end on April 8, so all users still running it right now are strongly recommended to update as soon as possible.
