Classic Shell received an update over the weekend to a new beta build (3.9.1). The modifications available are designed to improve the functionality of the program as well as its usability.

Starting this revision, users can re-order the All Programs section by simply dragging and dropping the items into the desired position. Also, the settings for the Start button are now applied on the spot and a preview image of the button is shown in the settings dialog.

Classic Shell’s settings now include the possibility to skip the modern UI for Windows 8.1 operating system. Also related to this OS is the possibility to use the native start button for accessing the start menu.

The developer added a new item in the main menu for opening the start screen in Windows 8 and 8.1 and a fresh new setting for controlling the height of the Windows 7-style menu. A full list of the modifications is available on this page.
