Microsoft might address the lack of a Start button in the next Windows release, but in the meantime third-party apps designed to bring such a feature on Windows 8 continue to experience an immense success.

Classic Shell, one of the free Start Menu apps on the market right now, has reached 6.2 million downloads, most of which come from the United States.

Just like Neowin.net notes, 4.3 million of downloads have been recorded after Windows 8’s public launch in October 2012, with figures still growing bigger on a daily basis.

While 21 percent of these downloads come from the United States, Germany, Russia, Japan and the United Kingdom complete the top 5, each with more than 100,000 hits on the official website of Classic Shell.

As far as 2013 is concerned, more than 3.2 million users downloaded the app, again with the United States topping the rankings.
