Security companies recommend users to deploy the update as soon as possible
Microsoft officially released a full security update for the recently discovered Internet Explorer 8 and older bug, so security companies are now urging everyone to deploy the fix as soon as possible. The number of websites compromised in order to exploit the flaw is continuously increasing, so the patch is the only way to stay on the safe side.
“Please note that this update is a real patch and not a cumulative update as we are used to for typical Internet Explorer updates,” Wolfgang Kandek, CTO at Qualys, said according to ThreatPost.
“It is highly recommended to have MS12-077, the last cumulative Internet Explorer update, installed before applying MS13-008.”
Internet Explorer 8 was the most popular browser in 2012 according to data provided by Net Applications, with a market share of 25.83 percent. IE9 comes second with 16.84 percent, followed by IE6 and IE7 with 6.80 percent and 3.47 percent, respectively.
