Stardock keeps up with the trends and updated Decor8 to build 1.0.6, which adds support for Microsoft’s upcoming operating system, Windows 8.1.

However, some of the changes in the next OS from Microsoft recoil on Stardock’s application as Decor8 will no longer offer the possibility to customize the number of rows in the modern start menu. The reason is that support for this functionality is no longer available in Windows 8.1.

On the upside, the developer added an option that provides the possibility to disable the dark effect for the app list in Microsoft’s latest OS.

Additional changes include a fix for Parallax mode on some non-English operating systems. On the same note, the Parallax mode has been moved to the second item in the list. Furthermore, the developer added an improvement designed to handle the right side color preview better on Windows 8.1.
