Developer announces Solid State Drive optimization under Windows 8

Piriform launched today an update for their defragmentation utility, Defraggler. The new build is a minor one that touts full support for the newly launched Windows 8.1 and extended functionality.

Version 2.16 of the application includes SSD (Solid State Drive) optimization under Windows 8 and support for Samsung and JMicron SSD TRIM optimization.

The developer also announces that SSD detection has been improved and that the Health tab sports an additional SMART data section.

The list of enhancements present in Defraggler 2.16 also touches on the search process in the case of finding smaller files that could contribute to a less than optimum defragmentation process.

Apart from this, the set of changes informs that the translations have been updated and that there are minor bug fixes available as well as GUI improvements; however, there are no details on the nature of these modifications.

Defraggler is available for download as a portable application.
