DownTube is one of the Metro apps that can help you not only watch your favorite YouTube videos in the Modern UI of Windows 8, but also download them to your computer with just a few taps.

The app today received a new update that makes everything run a bit smoother, while also addressing a few bugs which have been discovered in the previous builds.

According to the official change log that was published in the Windows Store earlier today, the new DownTube for Windows 8.1 fixes the MP3 download, so if you like any song that you find on YouTube, you can now download and convert it to MP3 format using the same app.

At the same time, the new DownTube build also adds Twitter and Facebook links to improve the social side of the application.

Just as expected, it continues to run flawlessly on all Windows 8.1 versions currently available, so you can install it on both desktops and tablets, including Microsoft's very own Surface RT that runs Windows RT.

In the end, this is clearly an update that should be installed by everyone, so download DownTube for Windows 8.1 right now to get all these improvements on your device as well.
