Piriform just launched version 4.0 for CCleaner, which adds a couple of new tools, one for the free version and one for the Pro release.

All users now benefit from a duplicate file finder that can match items by name, size and modification date. On top of this, users of the Pro release have a System and Browser Monitoring module.

CCleaner 4.0 also brings to the table improved graphics and icons and it should offer better performance thanks to optimizations to the internal architecture. Optimization in this release touches on the algorithm for detecting startup items, the drive wiper and the registry cleaner.

On the same note, the developer improved the 64-bit builds for Windows 7 and 8.

New applications supported in this revision include avast! Antivirus 8, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Samsung Kies and RealPlayer 16.

CCleaner is available for download as a portable program (no installation is required) on this page.
