14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just made available for download a new pre-release flavor of its Microsoft Security Essentials tool, namely version 4.0.1540.0.
This app version is available as part of Microsoft’s Security Essentials Prerelease program, which provides users with the possibility to grab the latest app iterations before they are made available for the general public.
Users who choose to download and install the Prerelease software are encouraged to offer feedback on their experience with the application, so that improvements could be added to it. However, they will also need to register to the Security Essentials Prerelease program on Microsoft Connect.
The new app can be installed on PCs running under genuine flavors of Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), Windows Vista (Service Pack 1, or Service Pack 2) and Windows 7. Updates for the Prerelease software are sent automatically to all users through Microsoft’s official channel.
