In conjunction with the launch of Windows 8 Release Preview, Microsoft also made available for download updated versions of its development tools that enable the building of apps for the upcoming platform.

Visual Studio 2012 is one of them, and the SDK for its Release Candidate version is now up for grabs for all those interested in it.

The new SDK flavor comes with all the project templates, tools, tests, and reference assemblies that developers need when it comes to building extensions for Visual Studio 2012 RC (such as tool windows, menu commands, editor extensions, isolated shell projects, and more).

The SDK can be downloaded and used on machines running Windows 7 (x86 and x64), Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64), Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate (x64) and Windows 8 Release Preview (x86 and x64). It requires Visual Studio Professional 2012 RC to be installed on the computer as well.
