VideoLAN has just released a new version of its famous VLC Media Player for Windows users, thus implementing a series of bug fixes and performance improvements.

VLC Media Player 2.1.1 has been around for a while for Ubuntu 13.10 users, but the developing team has only today rolled out the Windows version that’s supposed to address most of the issues reported by users in older builds, while also improving the playback experience for some of the supported formats.

Just as expected, VLC Media Player 2.1.1 comes with support for all Windows versions, including the newly-launched Windows 8.1.

The new build packs fixes for recording, subtitles track selection, decoders, and audio output. For example, it solves some issues with the DirectSound pass-through, while also simplifying the update mechanism for the Windows version of the app.

Overall, this new build is clearly a necessary update, so go ahead and download VLC Media Player 2.1.1 to get all the new options on your Windows computer too.
