The stable release for foobar2000 1.2.4 has rolled out recently. It features overall improvements and one repair for the status bar glitch that caused the volume icon to be misplaced.

One of the enhancements touches on the ReplayGain scanner, which should work faster now. Furthermore, it should no longer ignore up to 100ms of the last audio data.

The developer has improved the handling of 24-bit content through faster SSE-optimized codepaths for various sample type conversions.

New in this build is the possibility to verify the content of played files and report errors immediately. Keep in mind that this action does not verify the checksums for the entire file.

During the beta stage of development, the author eliminated bugs that caused crashes on older machines.

foobar2000 is available for download from this link; during installation you can choose to make it portable.
