A new set of pictures that reached the web yesterday and allegedly showing Windows 8.1 RTM revealed that Microsoft is planning to introduce a brand new default desktop wallpaper in this OS update, while several other backgrounds will be available via the Personalization screen.

Win8China has published a high-resolution version of the wallpaper, recreated by DeviantArt user Gabrielx86, so simply click on the picture above to download it right away or set it as your new desktop background.

As far as Windows 8.1 RTM is concerned, rumor has it that several OEMs across the world have already received it, so expect an official announcement from Redmond coming anytime soon.

The update is projected to be unveiled on October 18, while Windows 8 adopters will be allowed to get it as a free download from the Store one day earlier.
