A dedicated version of Dropbox for Windows 8 should be released anytime soon

Dropbox has just announced at LeWeb 2012 in Paris that it would release a new version of its software specifically aimed at the Windows 8 platform and its new Modern interface, TNW reports.

Just like many other apps currently available in the Store, the upcoming Dropbox flavor will adopt the Modern interface and will also support Windows RT, which means that Surface RT users and owners of tablets running this Windows version will be able to install it too.

The app will provide one-tap access to user data stored in the cloud and already available on a wide array of platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows.

Although this is quite good news for Dropbox fans, the upcoming app would have to compete against Microsoft’s very own SkyDrive that’s already integrated into Windows 8, Windows RT and some other software solutions available on these two operating systems.
