Yet another candidate rules himself out of the CEO race

Microsoft continues the search for a new CEO, but yet another important candidate has decided to rule himself out of the talks, according to a new report.

Bloomberg has revealed today that Ericsson’s chief executive office, Hans Vestberg, has told his company’s board of directors that he has no intention to move to Microsoft, which basically means that the software giant needs to switch to its own talent for the next CEO.

Of course, cloud boss Satya Nadella remains in pole-position to take over the vacant seat, but people close to the matter also indicated that Tony Bates and Kevin Turner could also serve as temporary replacements for Steve Ballmer.

Microsoft said in late December that an announcement on the new CEO would be made in early 2014, so expect the company to break the news on the one to take over from Ballmer in just a few weeks.
