Microsoft today rolled out major improvements for some “core” built-in Windows 8 Modern apps, but it appears that the company is also working on significant enhancements for the other tools too, such as the ones included in the Bing package.

Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet writes that Microsoft might release updates for Weather, News, Sports, Xbox Music and the other Windows 8 apps before the end of the month, even though the company may also wait until early April to roll out the updates.

Today’s release is only aimed at the Mail, Calendar and People Modern apps, bringing a number of changes just in time for the debut of Blue, the first makeover for Windows 8.

Windows Blue is also expected to come with significant improvements for the built-in Modern apps, but also with enhanced touch support and new UI customization options.
