Windows XP will go dark in only a few months and Microsoft continues to urge users to move to a newer platform as soon as possible.

At the same time, experts around the world tell us basically the same story, explaining that staying with Windows XP beyond the retirement date is a very risky decision.

Advanced 365, a British IT management company, has issued a similar warning, telling users that it’s critical to complete the transition to a newer OS beyond April 2014.

“Many businesses will be tempted to continue to use the system after 8th April 2014, however, Microsoft will no longer be issuing security patches or updates of any kind. As a result, many businesses which decide to continue using XP may well compromise the security of their own data. This could lead to serious problems in terms of compliance with data management legislation,” Neil Cross, managing director at Advanced 365, said.

Leaving aside the fact that this kind of companies are actually trying to capitalize on the XP retirement, the message they send is actually pretty accurate, as keeping an outdated operating system on a computer exposes users and their data to all kinds of malicious attempts.
