You can go ahead and search the web for different thematic icon packs for your whole computer. An alternative is using specialized applications and create your own images for files and folders. The program described below is a suitable tool in this regard and is sure to push your imagination to the limits.

Extracting and creating icons

Step 1: Download and install Sib Icon Editor.

Step 2: Run the application and decide upon an option. You can create a new icon from scratch, from an image file, an existing one, find specific icons, or simply extract each and every icon on your computer.

Step 3: Chose to create a new icon, all tools can be accessed from the main window.

Step 4: Set size specifications. The higher the resolution, the better the quality.

Step 5: Use drawing tools to create a custom icon.

Step 6: Enable transparency, add text, and apply various effects like aqua, opacity, colorize, and more.

Step 7: Go to File and Export your new icon.

Extracting icons is either done by searching in a specific directory or extracting from the whole computer. When the one of interest is displayed in the list, simply right-click it and hit Edit.
