F-Secure announced today the release of the 2014 product line, which includes Internet Security, Anti-Virus for PC and Mac as well as Mobile Security suite.

The highlights for this iteration are increased protection for online activities, enhanced security for online banking activities, and privacy protection on social networks (read: Facebook).

The new product is designed for threats targeting vulnerabilities in the web browsers, which represents the main attack vector nowadays.

According to F-Secure, 85% of people using the Internet engage in online banking activities. Banking Protection module has been strengthened by elevating the security settings when the user carries out online financial transactions.

The company did a survey that showed that 57% of the parent users have worries about their children having the proper privacy and security settings enforced for their Facebook account.

In response, F-Secure Internet Security added a new feature called Safe Profile, which ensures that users’ Facebook account is locked down with the proper privacy settings. It basically assesses how much of the profile is visible to strangers and displays the result.

The survey consisted in web interviews of 6,000 broadband subscribers aged 20-60 years from 15 countries.

Behavior-based detection in F-Secure Internet Security 2014 is carried out by DeepGuard 5’s engine. It picks up threats by analyzing the behavior of the processes of the programs most susceptible to being exploited, thus being able to uncover even zero-day threats.
