Facebook officially rolled out the official Facebook app for Windows 8 on October 17, the same day when Microsoft introduced the final bits of Windows 8.1 to the market.

Fast-forward two weeks later and Facebook becomes one the most successful entries in the Store, with the app now becoming the leading choice in the top free section.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the Facebook app, which works on Windows 8.1 exclusively, has received a total of 5,731 ratings, with an overall score of four stars.

Facebook has thus managed to beat several other popular Metro apps, including Six Guns, Netflix, Skype, and Where’s My Water? 2, all of which have led the top free section in the Windows Store for many weeks after the public launch of Windows 8.
