While the number of apps available for download on Windows 8.1 is continuously growing, Microsoft clearly needs to reduce the amount of spam in the Windows Store, as plenty of clones are currently listed for download for both desktops and tablets.

Microsoft is directly affected this time by a new app simply called Skype for Windows which claims to be the original Skype program that comes with both desktop and Metro flavors.

Of course, the fake app is only available with a price of $1.29 (1 euro) and doesn't come with a trial version, so you have no other option than to purchase a license before using it.

The description published in the store says nothing about the app and contains several typos and spelling mistakes: “Skype for windows8 now you can enjy all about skype... my app will help you alot in the usage of skype in windows8.”

There's only one screenshot displayed on the product page that shows the Skype logo, so make sure that you double-check before buying an application from the Windows Store these days.

Skype apps are currently offered absolutely free of charge, regardless of the platform they are addressed to, so just verify license information and product description to determine whether an app is legitimate or not.
