Over the weekend, FileZilla FTP client received an update that gets it closer to a new stable revision. This is the first release candidate for version 3.7.4 of the application and brings to the table support for HMAC-SHA2 256-bit algorithm for SFTP transfers.

HMAC (hash message authentication code) combines a hash function (SHA 256 in this case) with a secret cryptographic key and it is used for stronger protection of the data integrity while in transit.

Some repairs are also present in this release. One of them relates to incorrect resuming of the upload when there were zero octets left to transfer.

Also fixed is the issue with asking for authentication when the processing queue included items for multiple servers and the passwords were not stored.

Another glitch that no longer affects the Filezilla client relates to loading of the transfer list when starting the application with another instance running the routines of shutting down.
