Firefox for Windows 8.1 is still a work in progress, but Mozilla is expected to unveil the new version of its browser in just a couple of months, together with a new stable build of the app.

gHacks.net is reporting that Mozilla has also implemented private browsing options in Firefox Metro, but the feature is not yet turned on by default, so in case you wish to enable it, additional tweaking is necessary.

To do this, you need to type about:config in the address bar, search for the metro.private_browsing.enabled and set it to “true.”

Opening a private tab can be done by tapping the “More Options” icon, in the same way we can currently do it in Internet Explorer Metro.

Firefox for Windows 8.1 is still in development right now, so the browser is a little bit slow and highly unstable, but significant improvements are very likely to be introduced soon just ahead of the public launch.
