Microsoft hasn’t implemented such features in the Photos app

One of the changes Microsoft made to Windows 8.1 Preview was the removal of Facebook and Flickr support from the Photos app, even though many adopters have actually used this feature.

Even though plenty of users have asked Microsoft to bring back support for social networks in the stable build of Windows 8.1, the company has actually ignored all requests and continues to offer the Photos app as a quick way to only manage locally-stored pictures.

The reason is yet to be determined, especially since so many users called for the company to implement support for Flickr in Windows 8.1, but the company previously said that the Windows Store already comes with several helpful choices in this regard.

“Now there are many apps in the store that offer ways to view photos on other services and soon there will even be a Facebook app from Facebook,” a Microsoft employee wrote on the company’s community forums in early July.

So here you are, Microsoft is again listening to your feedback. The Start button is back (even though it does almost nothing except for getting users to the Start screen), while Facebook and Flickr support is missing because third-party apps have it. Way to go Redmond!
