The last release for 2012 from the development team behind Free Download Manager was a prototype for version 5.0 of the application.

Since revision 5.0 for FDM is an alpha build, its purpose is mostly to gather statistics and feedback about the fresh look of the program (HTML5 interface). If you want to try out the new release, you can do it without having to uninstall the old version.

Among the improvements brought by this build, there is an overall simplified downloading process. The developer also worked on increasing the functionality of the application. As such, full Unicode support has been implemented and settings designed for more seasoned users have been moved into the “Advanced” section.

Before installing this release, keep in mind that it is in alpha stage of development and does not meet the stability standard required for daily usage.

You can download the latest version of Free Download Manager from this page. It is also available in portable form.
