Chinese retailer Purcell School Pioneer is now offering a free upgrade to Windows 9 to all users who purchase the current Windows 8 operating system from its official website.

Users who want to get Windows 9 for free must register for a yearly subscription plan that needs to be valid after the launch of Microsoft's upcoming operating system, which according to sources familiar with the matter, is likely to see daylight in November 2014.

Neowin.net writes that Purcell School Pioneer is a company that has already collaborated with Microsoft China to roll out special software deals for students, so this new campaign may be more or less backed by the Redmond-based technology giant as well.

A Windows 8 license is available on the Purcell website for about $40 (€31), which could be an indication that Windows 9 may be offered either at lower prices or, at least, with the same price tags as the current Microsoft operating system.
