GIMP 2.7.5 has just been released. It is the last beta in the 2.7.x development branch of the photo manipulation tool and it comes with various improvements and fixes. Minor features such as possibility to configure the default color of quick masks are also available.

There isn’t too much information about the changes available in this revision, but you should expect important modifications, for the better.

Starting with this build, GIMP will come with a revised set of brushes and about 40 presets for painting-related tools. Although this is a pretty large step, it is only the first one in updating and expanding the default bundle of resources.

However, there is plenty of work to be done before releasing version 2.8 of the application, as you can see from the list of known problems.
