The Windows version for GIMP has been updated today to build 2.8.6. For Linux, the current build has been released over the weekend.

It is a minor release that fixes a couple of glitches affecting the overall functionality of the application.

The developer solved the issue with saving URIs, which would only allow exporting, and increased the upper limit for the size of the clipboard brushes and patterns to 1024x1024. Furthermore, the single-window docks can no longer be downsized more than their requirement.

Starting this build, when in single-window mode, pressing ESC key automatically moves the focus to the canvas and an audio alert is triggered if the focus is already on it.

Also changed is the action for clicking the close button of a single window, which now exits GIMP. Ctrl+W shortcut now closes only image windows and tabs, docks remaining unaffected. The full list of changes is available here.
