14 DAY TRIAL // It’s a well-known fact that companies use all kinds of internal codenames for their products, but when it comes to Microsoft, it chooses some of the weirdest nicknames.
The Surface, for example, was called “Georgetown,” and while Microsoft is yet to officially confirm this, it’s pretty hard to find a connection between this location and the company’s very own tablet.
On the other hand, it seems like Microsoft initially baptized its Touch Cover “Blades” which, let’s be honest, isn’t such an awkward name given the fact that it’s only 3 mm-thin.
While we can’t tell for sure whether these details are indeed accurate, Winsyde.com claims that it all comes from a Microsoft employee who revealed the codenames during a tech talk.
Of course, Microsoft will never confirm or deny this, so we have no other option than to take this for granted.
