Microsoft is currently offering only a 30-day trial for users who wish to get its new Office 365 productivity suite for a spin, but a glitch found in its files can allow anyone to extend this testing to up to 180 days.

HowToGeek.com has found that a quick “hack” of the Microsoft Shared folder could basically allow you to use Office 365 up to 180 days at absolutely no cost, thus bypassing Microsoft’s 30-day restriction.

The Redmond-based tech giant has yet to comment on this issue, but the company will most likely patch it as soon as possible, especially because it bets big on its refreshed productivity suite.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Microsoft has worked out a major upgrade strategy similar to the one aimed at the Windows platform, as it’s planning to bring several important improvements to its productivity software.

In addition to several enhancements brought to the desktop versions, Android and iOS builds are also in the pipeline for a 2014 launch.
