The search results page looks like a simple list on the left side of the screen

Another day, another issue found in the new Windows 8.1. This time, it turns out that the new operating system does not display Google search results links correctly, with users provided with a simple narrow column on the left side of the screen.

Jim Sessa, one of our readers, reported this problem a few days ago, but it turns out that it’s more of a widespread issue affecting many more Windows 8.1 adopters.

Microsoft’s Community forums are full of similar complaints, with no workaround found at the time of writing this article.

“After installing Win 8.1 my Google search results do not properly display. They appear as a narrow column on the left side of the screen. I have tried the ‘fix’ found on the internet, of unchecking Use Microsoft compatibility List, under Compatibility View and un-checked Use Software rendering,” one user explained.

Switching to other browsers might be the only solution for the moment, but Microsoft is most likely looking into the issue as we speak, so expect a patch anytime soon.
