Windows 8 is finally gaining traction, according to a statement released by Microsoft, but company partners across the world beg to differ.

HP, for example, says in a statement for IT Pro that most of its customers are actually picking Windows 7 over Windows 8 thanks to its superior stability and better app compatibility.

“Almost every customer I’ve talked to plans to remain on Windows 7 for quite a while because they want the stability, they’ve got a large install base of applications and tools,” Jim Zafarana, VP and GM for the HP Workstations global business unit, said while also adding that 90 percent of the customers still go for Windows.

At the same time, HP’s executive explains that his company expects enterprise adoption of Windows 8 to remain slow in the next couple of years, despite the arrival of the new 8.1 update.
