The Surface 3 is now available for purchase in the United States and other markets across the world, and to make sure that more people purchase the new tablet, Microsoft is offering a special discount for those who already have a Surface.

The company has launched a new special trade-in program for Surface RT owners who are willing to give up on their tablets in exchange for a brand new Surface 3, giving them the possibility of purchasing the recently launched model with a hefty discount.

Basically, Microsoft could give you up to $150 (€110) for your old Surface RT if you want to buy the new Surface 3, but the price you get obviously depends on the condition of the device.

The Surface 3 is the smaller brother of the Surface Pro 3 and comes with a 10.8-inch screen and 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM, as well as with two storage options, 64 or 128 GB.

The Surface 3 runs the full version of Windows 8.1, as compared to Surface RT, which is powered by Windows RT. As a result, the new model can actually replace your laptop because it runs desktop apps, while the Surface RT is still limited to apps listed in the Windows Store (and we all know that the store still lacks some pretty big names right now).
