Green Lumia 1520 no longer an AT&T exclusive

Lumia 1520 is more or less an aged Windows Phone model, but surprisingly, Microsoft wants to make it available for as many buyers as possible with various customization options and upgrades.

And if you until now drooled over the green Lumia 1520 model that your American friend bought a few months ago, this is definitely pretty good news for you. Starting today, Windows Phone fans in Europe can also purchase the green Lumia 1520, as Microsoft just made it available in Germany.

Until now, the green version of the 1520 was only available in the United States and only at AT&T, but it appears that demand was so high for this model that the company decided to release it in other markets too.

And the best of all, those in Germany who purchase the green Lumia 1520 also get some other hardware upgrades that are not yet available on units sold by AT&T.

First and foremost, the 6-inch phablet is available for Germans with 32 GB of internal storage, while Americans only get 16 GB. What's more, the model sold in Europe has Qi wireless charging support (not offered in the United States), as well as UMTS LTE support.

The rest of the device is pretty much the same, so both those in the US and in Europe get the 20-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad-core processor.

The green Lumia 1520 doesn't come cheap. As WindowsCentral writes, the device is currently available at online retailer Notebookbilliger.de for 419 euros ($510), but that still makes it more affordable than an iPhone 6 Plus or a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Until now, there's no word on availability of this green Lumia 1520 in other markets, but we've contacted Microsoft for a few more details and will update the story when we get an answer.

In the meantime, you can read the Lumia 1520 review we published a few months ago for the white version.
