If the new appearance of Windows 8.1, which looks pretty much the same as the one of Windows 8 with the exception of the Start button, isn’t quite your cup of tea, you’re in luck.

A simple theme that’s now compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 can make your Microsoft operating system look just like Ubuntu, as it includes a plethora of visual changes, such as new title bars and colors.

If you really want to make Windows look just like the version you’re seeing in the screenshot above, you need to patch the theme engine files with Uxtheme Multi-patcher and install some third-party add-ons, such as docks and app launchers.

The theme is called Maverick, which reminds of Maverick Meerkat, the designation used for Ubuntu 10.10 that was officially announced on April 2, 2010.

Still, in order to successfully install it, you need to copy the included file to C > Windows > Resources > Themes just after you download the Mavericks theme from Softpedia.
