Windows 8 still lacks many important applications, including instant messaging tools that would allow users to chat with their friends without leaving the Metro UI, but hopefully more companies will embrace Microsoft’s new OS and port their apps as soon as possible.

ICQ users are among the lucky Windows 8 adopters that can chat with their friends and enjoy the Modern interface at the same time, as the parent company has already launched a Metro version of this popular messenger.

Fortunately, the app has just been improved with two essential features, namely video and voice call, both of which can provide a superior chatting experience over the Internet.

Another good thing about ICQ is that it’s available at absolutely no cost, so it can be installed by all Windows 8 and Windows RT users from the Store.
