Internet Explorer 6 was one of the most popular browsers in the world a long time ago, as it was practically Microsoft’s first powerful app in this particular area of the market.

Fast forward 11 years later and IE6 continues to be one of the top choices out there, with no less than 6.08 percent of computer users worldwide still running this particular build of Microsoft’s in-house browser.

Even though Microsoft hopes to move all users to newer versions of IE, version 6 has a higher market share than Chrome 29 (3.53 percent), Safari 6 (3.45 percent) and Opera 12 (1.25 percent).

“Over 10 years ago a browser was born. Its name was Internet Explorer 6. Now that we're in 2013, in an era of modern web standards, it’s time to say goodbye,” Microsoft says on the IE6 countdown page.
