While all eyes are on the new Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8 continues to be the number one browser in the world, according to new statistics for the month of February.

Net Applications figures reveal that IE 8.0 had a market share of 23.38 percent last month, followed closely by Internet Explorer 9.0 with a share of 21.67 percent.

Mozilla Firefox 18 is the only non-Microsoft browser on the podium with a market share of 11.05 percent, while Chrome 24.0 comes fourth with 10.88 percent.

In case you were wondering, Internet Explorer 6.0 remains a surprisingly popular browser these days, as it’s the fifth entry in February 2013’s data with a 6.33 percent market share, more than the newly released Firefox 19 (3.32 percent) and Google Chrome 25 (3.14 percent).
